Yes to dragons, dwarfs, hobbits and elves ... but let’s say no to trolls
The trolls of the latest fantasy shows hassle not just Amazon and HBO executives but also the casts
With last week’s release of the first two episodes of Amazon’s Lord of the Rings: The Power of the Rings, the fantasy wars — the battle raging for the screen attention of fantasy fans between Amazon and HBO, whose Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon launched in August — have begun in earnest.
While producers of both shows know that fantasy fans can be very hard to please and more fickle than the wind, they may not have quite been prepared for what is happening beyond the borders of the screen — where there are no dragons, no dwarves, no elves, no men with shocking white hair and violet eyes but, as it’s quickly become apparent, there are plenty of trolls...
