CAN business survive another three years of President Jacob Zuma? That’s what business leaders need to weigh up right now. So far, only two in the business community think not. One is AngloGold Ashanti chairman Sipho Pityana, its empowerment partner and a former foreign affairs and labour director-general. He has decided to speak out and to carry on doing so at every opportunity. The other is Enoch Godongwana. He is not a business leader, but a member of the ANC national executive committee and chairman of its economic transformation committee who sees politics with the eye of a businessman concerned about the political management of the economy.
