ANGLOGOLD Ashanti chairman Sipho Pityana, who in his personal capacity has called for President Jacob Zuma step down, has hit back at the Black Business Council for its public endorsement of the president, saying that the organisation displays “crass and vulgar crony capitalism” and is oblivious to the pain Zuma is inflicting on the country.Pityana, who is lobbying the BBC, Business Unity SA and Business Leadership SA to join the public debate about Zuma’s continued presidency, drew fire from BBC President Ndaba Ntsele over the weekend, when the council angrily rejected his call.Pityana says he is certain that the statement made by the BBC and the reasons given for why the Zuma should stay is not supported by all the component parts of the BBC or all its members. The BBC includes professionals such as the Black Management Forum, Association of Black Chartered Accountants, and the Association of Black Securities and Investment Professionals, among others.“The BBC is supposed to be an...
