THE announcement that President Jacob Zuma had paid back the R7.8m for nonsecurity upgrades at his Nkandla homestead was carefully leaked by the Presidency ahead of his appearance in Parliament on Tuesday, the opposition parties said on Monday. Zuma is due to face parliamentarians on Tuesday and the opposition EFF, which had vowed to heckle him again until he "paid back the money", could still try to stop him answering questions in Parliament. On Monday night, the party said it would not share its game plan for the question-and-answer session with Zuma. But it said it would seek clarity on the "main source and principle" that led to VBS Mutual Bank granting Zuma the loan. "We will do so to prevent a possible situation where monies are illegally moved in protection of one individual, whom the Constitutional Court said should be individually and personally liable for the nonsecurity upgrades," the EFF said.
