A SENIOR African National Congress (ANC) politician and a businessman have been named as alleged provocateurs in the conflict over mining assets that has divided the Bakubung tribe on the platinum belt.In an affidavit signed in July 2011 — at the height of the conflict over more than R700m of "missing" mining assets in platinum miner Wesizwe, which spilt over into violence and the torching of properties — deponent David Tseladimmitlwa fingers former ANC MP James Ngculu and former Wesizwe executive Mlibo Mgudlwa as sponsors of a scheme intended to cause disruption in the community.The allegation sheds lights on the possible political dimension of a long-running saga that could be nearing resolution.Mr Mgudlwa and Mr Ngculu, a nonexecutive director in Wesizwe, have defended themselves against the allegation.Wesizwe, informally known in the area as the "ANC company" when it was founded, according to those close to the process, emerged in 2004 with a strong contingent of politicians amo...
