The legal battle between the DA and ANC over the governing party’s cadre deployment policy is set to stride forward on Wednesday when the high court in Pretoria delivers its ruling on whether the policy is lawful. 

Should the court rule in the DA’s favour, it would serve a blow to the ANC’s long-standing practice of appointing party loyalists to key public sector posts, which has been criticised by the opposition party and civil society organisations for being at the heart of maladministration and corruption in the public service. ..
