President Cyril Ramaphosa will "soon" initiate the process to appoint a new commissioner for the SA Revenue Service (Sars) now that Tom Moyane has lost his latest bid to avert his removal from the tax collecting agency.

Business Day understands that the appointment will be made only after Ramaphosa has studied the final report of the commission of inquiry into governance at Sars, chaired by retired judge Robert Nugent.
