Economist Chris Hart discusses the trajectory for interest rates in the US, Europe and Japan, and how this will affect local rates

Chris Hart is an economist. BUSINESS DAY TV: While markets may be pricing in at least a 97% chance of a US Federal Reserve interest rate hike this evening, it may just be the quarterly press conference from Janet Yellen’s first meeting that all investors will be watching. It’s during that presentation where she will give some insight as to where the Fed sees interest rates heading over the next couple of years. Joining us on News Leader to discuss this further is economic strategist Chris Hart. Chris, I was just picking something up from the FT [Financial Times] which says that the dot plot, which was so crucial for policymakers in the Fed and for onlookers, initially forecast two interest rate increases this year, another two for 2017 and then three in 2018 and 2019. Do you think that trajectory is still likely to be the one that will be experienced?
