Implats to replace SABMiller on JSE’s top 40
The SABMiller merger will lead to its place on the JSE’s top 40 index being taken by Impala Platinum and AVI will replace it on the industrial-25 index
IMPALA Platinum has clawed its way back into the top 40 index, replacing SABMiller which will disappear from the benchmark gauge by the end of the week after the brewer’s shareholders voted in favour of the $104bn merger with Anheuser-Busch InBev.The reshuffle will also see food producer AVI replace SABMiller on the industrial-25 index, the biggest component on the all-share index.Implats joins Sibanye Gold and Gold Fields, which were included in the coveted index earlier in September. The index attracts investment by tracker funds.Implats’s share price, which has risen nearly fourfold this year, rose 3.23% to R68 on the JSE in mid-afternoon trade, valuing the company at R50bn.
