By-elections to take place in November to replace dead councillors
BY-ELECTIONS will be held in six provinces in November to replace councillors who had either died or resigned from their positions.The elections would be held in the Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, Northern Cape, Mpumalanga and the Western Cape on November 9, the Electoral Commission of SA (IEC) announced on Tuesday.READ THIS: NEWS ANALYSIS: Crying has begun at the three-year-old EFFA total of 15 wards would be contested.The IEC said in terms of the June Constitutional Court ruling, it was required to ensure that the voters’ roll contained the addresses of voters, were available, for all by-elections following the August local government elections.All voting stations in the affected wards would open this weekend to allow voters the opportunity to verify and update their registration and address details, the commission said."The electoral commission will therefore be urging registered voters to ensure their addresses are available and up to date in the coming week via SMS, pam...
