SOUTH African bonds were marginally stronger at midday on Tuesday due to continued risk appetite for emerging market assets.Emerging markets assets, such as bonds, provide higher yields than what developed market assets can offer.At 11.34am, the R186 was bid at 8.550% and offered at 8.530% from Monday’s 7.805%.The R207 was bid at 7.780% and offered at 7.765% from 7.805% previously.The rand was at R13.6188 from R13.5946 on Monday.Local bond prices were also firmer on Monday after Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan said that the worst of SA’s economic downturn may be over, NKC Research analysts said.The US 10-year note was last seen at 1.6179% from 1.6247% previously.
