London — British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Monday his government would not abandon people and businesses who need government help during the Covid-19 pandemic, after he announced a provisional timetable for lifting pandemic restrictions.
Johnson's remarks to parliament put pressure on chancellor of the exchequer Rishi Sunak to extend a £70bn job furlough programme which is due to expire on April 30, well before most social-distancing restrictions will be lifted...
