It’s been a year. It’s almost over and yet it feels like it has barely begun. In many ways 2021 has been better than 2020, but, then, last year was the lowest of lows — awful and deceitful. How awful? Boris Johnson awful. Bumbling, confused, lying, broken promises bad.
We had some proper rugby in 2021. The British & Irish Lions came to town just in time for another lockdown, booze ban and all. The Springboks were dogged, Rassie Erasmus went full mongrel and the British media, having finally tired of dry-humping Warren Gatland’s red-tracksuit-ed leg, howled at how Erasmus had just perpetrated the greatest sin on the sport since it went professional. ..
