Stuttaford Van Lines has been charged with 649 counts of collusive tendering relating to hundreds of government contracts issued for furniture removal. These include those issued by the Presidency, Parliament, the South African Secret Service, the South African Police Service, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the South African Revenue Service, the Reserve Bank, the Department of Justice, the public protector and state-owned entities. The Competition Commission says this is the most charges facing a single company in the history of anticartel enforcement in SA. Hopefully, the commission’s enthusiasm will rub off on the Hawks and the NPA, which have been strangely quiet in the wake of the prima facie evidence contained in the leaked Gupta e-mails.
