McDonald’s restaurants in the US have recorded quarterly sales that surprised the forecasting gurus and even gastronomers — apparently helped along by the launch of "signature crafted sandwiches", a product conceived at its Hamburger University in Illinois. When it started in 1961, Hamburger University did in fact offer a short course for a Bachelor of Hamburgerology. However, this was discontinued and the McDonald’s website informs us that the institution now offers graduates "a unique management curriculum that is as thought-provoking as it is comprehensive".
