THE Volvo XC90 has won the coveted 2016 Wesbank-SA Guild of Motoring Journalists (SAGMJ) Car of the Year competition and I believe it is a deserving winner.Announced at a gala function in Johannesburg, the XC90 managed to see off 11 other vehicles vying for the title this year to be given the most prestigious car award in SA.With its fresh, Scandinavian design, exemplary cabin architecture and a host of convenience and safety items, the XC90 has moved the goalposts in its segment by bringing a fresh approach to the premium large SUV segment.The model scored a total of 1,512 points ahead of the first runner-up, the Ford Fusion with 1,489, while second runner-up, the Mazda2, accrued 1,453 points.
