THE Stormers claimed top place in the Africa 1 Super Rugby conference to secure a play-off berth after systematically dismantling the Western Force in Perth on Saturday.Victory moved the Stormers to 46 points on the standings‚ taking them out of reach of the chasing Bulls in their conference.The Stormers win over the Force was far from pretty in atrocious conditions‚ but the Cape side used a dominant set piece to set up the bonus point victory.The Stormers scrum edged the battle and locks Eben Etzebeth and Pieter-Steph du Toit poached four Force lineouts while not losing a single ball on their own throw.Initially the match was an arm wrestle as the rain teemed down with the tourists unable to get a foothold in the game. Centre Daniel du Plessis was astonishingly yellow-carded for allegedly taking out Force wing Marcel Brache in the air.
