Thousands of aggrieved security guards are massing in Germiston to demand that they not lose their jobs before Christmas. Trade Union of Security Industry in South Africa (Tusisa) claims new contracts signed between the City of Ekurhuleni and security firms will place the jobs of 6,000 workers at risk from December 1. "The companies that are coming in say the workers who have been working for the city will not be absorbed under the new contracts," Tusisa president Teboho Motloung said on Monday. "We are talking about 6‚000 people who are going to lose employment. That is why we are here today: to display our dissatisfaction with not only the companies‚ but specifically the municipality," he said.
