Nelson Mandela Bay deputy mayor Mongameli Bobani will know his fate on Thursday, when a motion of no confidence in him is debated and voted on in the council. The Nelson Mandela Bay coalition administration has been taking strain over the past few months, with tension between Bobani and DA mayor Athol Trollip prompting a national coalition task team to investigate allegations and counterallegations by the two. Trollip axed Bobani as member of the mayoral council for public health in May. Many meetings have been held since, as e-mails flew back and forth in a bid to resolve the tension. The motion of no confidence in the United Democratic Movement’s Bobani was postponed after it was initially tabled to take place on August 10.
