NET1 UEPS’s EasyPay customer base was likely to hit the 1-million mark in coming months as the financial services unit had reached a total of 900,000 account holders, Net1 CE Serge Belamant said on Friday.The payment group is driving the take-up of its EasyPay Everywhere financial services products aggressively. The EasyPay platform is widely used in retail stores for the payment of third-party bills, such as utility accounts. It is evolving into a fully fledged bank, mainly targeting the unbanked.The EasyPay account offers customers financial services, such as cash withdrawals, card payments, microloans and insurance.At the end of last month, it had more than 830,000 active account holders, from 350,000 in October last year."In order for us to address the sizeable opportunity for EasyPay Everywhere and related financial inclusion services in SA, we have had to expand our brick-and-mortar financial services branch infrastructure," Mr Belamant said.At the end of December, EasyPay had...
