If the speculation is true that Jean Nel is to be the next CE of Impala Platinum (Implats), the world’s second-largest miner of that metal, there are mixed blessings. Nel is highly regarded after his tenure as CE at Aquarius Platinum, which has mines in SA and Zimbabwe.
