The media has many correspondents bewailing the victory of Donald Trump in the recent election in America. President-elect Trump is accused of being demeaning to women, but he is very much that disappearing creature — a real man. There are suggestions that he is going to deport millions of illegal immigrants, and the Irish Independent is greatly disturbed by this. When are the commentariat going to learn a little humility? We, the silent majority, who pay our taxes or have them extracted from us by a draconian collection system, are tired of lectures. We should not use tobacco, we should not use alcohol, we should not use sugar, we should vote for the XYZ because it’s "progressive". We have immature twentysomethings who cannot balance a cheque account pontificating on the national economy and commanding that we cast our votes in the manner they see fit.
