It is often said that sunlight is the best disinfectant. It is therefore good that discussion about the Electricity Regulation Amendment Bill is now out in the open. Since public comment on the bill closed in March last year, progress on it has been the subject of rumour and tittle-tattle.
According to comments submitted by civil society coalition Life After Coal, the “extensive” amendments to the bill are understood to be a first step towards the restructuring of our current energy system, to separate generation and transmission and create a market system for the electricity sector...
