Libra, the name Facebook has given to the digital currency it intends to launch in 2020, is perhaps appropriately placed between its two neighbouring astrological signs, Virgo and Scorpio — somewhere between innocent and eina!
There is no longer any doubt that banking and all of its related activities are going digital. According to Bloomberg, there are already 866-million mobile money accounts across 90 countries, processing $1.3bn daily. So, digital has arrived, and the banking industry would ignore it at its peril. Ask Kodak, which somewhat myopically never took the emergence of digital photography seriously and had to file (its then legacy business) for bankruptcy in 2012...
