The wheels of justice grind exceedingly slow at the Premier Soccer League (PSL) and there’s a chance that by the time Kaizer Chiefs are hauled over the coals following the disgraceful actions of a section of their supporters at FNB Stadium on Saturday, my nine-year-old son could be preparing for his matric dance. The above might sound like hyperbole, but it will be interesting to see how the PSL reacts after Chiefs fans threw an assortment of objects at beleaguered coach Steve Komphela and his players as they left the field after an embarrassing 3-0 home defeat to Chippa United.Komphela and his players had to be escorted by police and security personnel as the missiles rained down from the stands. The match itself was poorly attended, as has been the case with most of Chiefs’ recent home matches, but the few who bothered to turn up certainly made their presence felt. The ailing Chiefs used to be one of the most admired brands in Southern Africa but those days are seemingly long gone...
