In a changing market, vehicle insurers are finding new ways to provide cover for drivers, such as pay-per-use products
Most of us don’t associate the Professional Provident Society (PPS) with motor insurance, but the insurer, which focuses on the professional market, has taken off its training wheels. It has parted company with Santam, which used to be its joint venture partner in PPS Insure. It thus now has a wholly owned short-term insurer headed by Werner Bosman.
Motor insurance is likely to develop even faster than its other product lines because of the number of technological changes in the industry. Most of us bought cars in the past as it was a necessity to conduct our business and home lives. Now many people are happy to use ride-hailing services such as Uber to get around...
