THERE is a "strategic political rupture" between the policy of the Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) and the views of its general secretary, Zwelinzima Vavi, says National Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union (Nehawu) general secretary Fikile Majola.At the heart of the internal battle is the federation’s stance towards its allies, the African National Congress (ANC) and the South African Communist Party (SACP) — disagreements which have led to the biggest conflict among Cosatu’s leaders since its formation.
