Suspended Eskom financial director Anoj Singh was sent packing by Parliament’s public enterprises committee on Tuesday because he only filed his submission at 11pm on Monday, not giving MPs any time to study them before their engagement with him. The committee is conducting an inquiry into state capture and has been waiting for about six months for an opportunity to engage with Singh about his alleged role in facilitating contracts with Gupta-owned or linked companies. It now appears that Singh will appear before the committee in January. Inquiry chairperson Zukiswa Rantho, together with committee members, were scathing in their criticism of Singh’s late submission of his 400-page document, his first public statement on the allegations made against him. Rantho said Singh seemed to have undermined the committee.
