Manchester — ArcelorMittal has named Aditya Mittal its new CEO, marking a generational shift as a leaner steelmaker emerges from the pandemic.
The 45-year-old served a two-decade apprenticeship under his father Lakshmi, who becomes executive chair of the steelmaking giant he founded in 1976. During that period, the new CEO made his mark, spearheading the $34bn takeover of Arcelor in the steel industry’s biggest-ever deal.
