PACKAGING group Transpaco says that paper and other companies moving into its industry are creating new competition but careful acquisitions will help the group grow earnings.Major South African paper supplier Sappi is just one company that was in paper but is now focusing increasingly on packaging.Transpaco released its results for the year to June on Wednesday.CEO Phillip Abelheim said: "Transpaco maintained its consistent performance with good turnover growth and a slight increase in headline earnings per share despite challenging trading conditions."Challenges remain, notably margin pressure from higher input costs, increased competition and possible labour incidences in some of our markets."There are new companies coming in, but some have made acquisitions which have not gone so well for them down the line."As such, we are careful not to repeat mistakes.
