A few final "loops" had to be gone through and then the disciplinary hearing against former Eskom acting CEO Matshela Koko would proceed, group executive for human resources Elsie Pule said at the weekend. This was after several attempts by Business Day to determine why the process was taking so long. Pule rejected as unfair the assertion that Eskom was "dragging its feet" in dealing with allegations of impropriety against Koko, saying prescribed processes had to be followed. Allegations made against Koko in late March were that he failed to declare a conflict of interest involving stepdaughter Koketso Choma’s part ownership of engineering firm Impulse International, which received contracts worth R1bn from the Eskom unit he headed while she was a director.
