The leader of the DA on the Johannesburg City Council‚ Herman Mashaba‚ has thanked the EFF for their contribution to the council’s coalition government. The EFF voiced its reservations about Mashaba after last year’s local government elections‚ initially saying it would only support the DA in its bid for power in the city on condition that Mashaba was not the DA’s choice for mayor. However‚ the red berets have since softened their position‚ saying that there was nothing they could do if the DA wanted to put him forward as the metro’s leader.
