Reports in the weekend press reveal that the Jacob Zuma Foundation, which is chaired by one Dudu Myeni, who has also overseen the most recent demise of South African Airways (SAA), is bankrupt. Are we surprised? Two more immoral, dishonest, unscrupulous and corrupt people one would never wish to meet. On Zuma’s watch, the Guptas have siphoned off as much as R200bn of taxpayers’ money while municipalities are guilty year after year of unauthorised and wasteful expenditure in the region of R25bn to R30bn. A further R250m was squandered on Zuma’s private house, and what about the billions spent on bailing out corrupt state-owned enterprises? About R44bn on SAA alone since 1999! And yet Zuma, with all his contacts, cannot find a few miserable millions to put a few destitute yet deserving students through university?
