Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (Outa) welcomes the suspension of Eskom chief financial officer Anoj Singh and calls for an investigation into his activities. We hope we’re turning the corner, but it’s not a quick fix. The corruption goes right down to power station level, so there’s a lot of work ahead. Outa would welcome the opportunity to assist in a clean-up of Eskom. We need a credible investigation, not a cover-up. Singh’s suspension follows the release of Eskom’s disastrous annual report, which included a qualified audit opinion. Singh was suspended after the Development Bank of Southern Africa threatened to recall its R15bn loan if no action was taken against him and other Eskom officials responsible for the qualified audit.
