I find it disturbing that the "collective outrage" over President Jacob Zuma’s actions is only surfacing now. Where have these "moral" voices been all this time, particularly the so-called "good" ANC members? Let me remind South Africans that the biggest scandal to hit the country before the current mess was the arms deal, and that was under the Mbeki administration. The same currently "outraged" ANC members and veterans never said a word then, nor about Nkandla, and if I remember correctly after the state-capture report, Gwede Mantashe tried to rubbish the public protector’s findings. The collective ANC — the whole lot, Pravin Gordhan included — have in the past been as guilty in all of this because of their silence. Clearly, their loyalty to the party and their own positions trumps the good of the country. It is not a case of "Zuma must fall", but of "ANC must fall". The party is not saveable.
