Two enthralling stories have emerged, one involving pants and the other a long-awaited gold
There were two great stories to come out of the Winter Olympics this week, one a fairy tale of redemption and the other a story of crippling disappointment. Which to tell first? Perhaps start with the let-down before the story of joy.
After 20 years of sporting the weirdest, most wonderful and most colourful trousers at the Winter Games, the Norway men’s curling team began their Olympics wearing plain dark blue on Wednesday night, much to the consternation of the curling world and sports fans in general. There was nary a sign of “The Pants”, which featured a red-and-pink heart-themed pair, a multicoloured argyle design, a nod to Jackson Pollock and a salute to the colours of their country’s flag. ..
