THE South African Department of Defence seems to be clueless about what the Southern African Development Community (Sadc) may be.In an article on its website, the department records that the chief of the South African National Defence Force held a meeting on July 22 with his Swazi counterpart in Pretoria.The two defence chiefs "met to discuss the security aspects of the forthcoming Southern African Democratic Countries summit to be held in Swaziland".The statement, written by a reporter for SA Soldier magazine rejoicing in the first name Brilliant, ends by quoting a defence force intelligence chief saying the Joint Operations Liaison Forum would need to discuss and find consensus on security measures "to be implemented between the two counties (sic) in ensuring that the occasion runs safely".The real Sadc heads of state summit takes place in Swaziland from August 17 and — with the likes of Swazi King Mswati III, one of the world’s last remaining absolute monarchs, Zimbabwe’s dinosau...
