This June SA experienced one of its worst periods of load-shedding, with four consecutive days of stage 6 rolling blackouts. The negative effect of the ongoing electricity disruption threatens the country’s economy.

It is estimated that in 2020 load-shedding cost the economy R500m per stage per day. This is particularly burdensome for small businesses, especially in manufacturing where the entire business depends on electricity to drive the machines. ..
