Grace Mugabe is cock-a-hoop that anyone with authority or power in SA has so far failed to arrest her for allegedly assaulting a woman at a Sandton hotel. The police seem scared to even go near Zimbabwe’s first lady, who struts around with the Zanu-PF rooster emblem on her gear. Mugabe is said to have beaten the woman with an electrical cord, which she either routinely carries in her handbag to ward off thugs or may have pulled out of an appliance such as a television set or heater. Since first ladies don’t as a rule damage hotel property, one must assume she carries the cord for protection in case her bodyguards chicken out of a particularly tight situation.
