FOR the rest of my life, June will have a special personal meaning. In June 2006, I was diagnosed with lupus, a chronic autoimmune disease that can damage any part of the body, such as the skin, joints or vital organs.I had no idea what it was. I knew that I was entering the world of the unknown and that, perhaps, my life would forever change for the worst. From 2009 to 2011, I hit rock bottom and was forced to take medication and steroids every day, which my body rejected. In 2009, I was bed-ridden for four months as the disease and the medication took its toll on my health.
