Gordhan to give Treasury’s view on Sassa mess to Scopa
Parliament’s public accounts committee has called the finance minister to brief MPs, after questioning Social Development Minister Bathabile Dlamini
Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan has been invited to give the Treasury’s take on SA’s social grants fiasco to Parliament. The standing committee on public accounts (Scopa) decided to make an urgent call to Gordhan to brief its members after questioning Social Development Minister Bathabile Dlamini on Tuesday. Dlamini‚ who arrived late‚ assured MPs that grants would be paid on time when the current contract with Cash Paymaster Services (CPS) ends on March 31. She maintained there was no "national crisis". Rights group Black Sash wants any new contract to pay grants to be supervised by the Constitutional Court.
