PACKAGING group Astrapak on Thursday reported a 25.4% rise in profit from continuing operations to R27.6m in the six months to June as average selling price per kilogram improved 8%.The average selling price was R55.27/kg in the period under review, from R51.07/kg in the year-earlier period.The manufacturer of plastic packaging material grew revenue 15.2% to R734.3m, benefiting from "strong customer relationships across a much narrower but clearly defined technology footprint and the benefit of new projects that have been commissioned".Astrapak’s three largest markets as a proportion of sales are now food, personal care and toiletry, and automotive.The company said these sales categories were relatively resistant to poor economic conditions and benefited from growing urbanisation and investment by government in bulk infrastructure and sanitation.The headline loss attributable to ordinary shareholders reduced 27.6% to R5.6m."Astrapak has produced an improved interim result and is bud...
