THE University of South Africa (Unisa) has secured a "powerful line-up of political analysts and thinkers" for a debate on the ANC’s performance in recent polls and prospects for 2019. Radio and TV presenter Iman Rappetti will facilitate Thursday’s deliberations. "The African National Congress (ANC) has been winning elections in most provinces since 1994‚ but their performance started dropping after 2009‚" a university statement said. "Many people believe that the results of the recent local government elections showed that the voters are no longer happy with the ANC‚ and it has lost power to the opposition parties that have now come together to oust it out of power." With the ANC losing "key municipalities like the City of Tshwane‚ City of Johannesburg and Nelson Mandela Bay"‚ the debate will question whether voters "might finally take the ANC out of power in 2019?"
