Cricket writer Telford Vice states that Graeme Pollock has "destroyed his greatness by exposing his racism" in a comment on Cricket SA’s election policy (England have a mental block before Oval Test, July 20). Nothing can destroy Pollock’s greatness — and certainly not Vice’s putrid opinion. The Proteas’ win proved Pollock correct. They fielded two fewer quota players compared to the team that played at Lord’s and the success was instant. Insisting on merit selection of sport teams does not make you a racist. Maybe this was a feeble attempt by Vice to curry favour with Cricket SA? C BoshoffVia e-mail
