There are many flaws to Prof Imraan Valodia’s argument (Hourly minimum wage is likely to benefit employees and employers, March 1). One real issue is the minimum number of hours an employee has to be paid for in any particular day. This will create havoc in industries such as building, where the bargaining council allows the industry to cancel a day’s work if there is rain. Why would a company be interested in its employees coming to work merely to have to return home? Michael Bagraim, MPDA labour spokesman
