Young engineers heed Mandela’s call as they change the world
The young guns at the cutting edge of innovation in science, engineering and technology embody Madiba’s emphasis on education, writes Vuyelwa Qinga
One of the ways in which we can commemorate Nelson Mandela is by reflecting on one of his most famous quotations: "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." When one is in the privileged position of being surrounded daily by some of the brightest young minds in the country, who are using their education to change their circumstances and the world, Madiba’s words become more real. Denel has been presenting its young gems – highly specialised engineers, technicians and artisans working at the cutting edge of technological innovations – in Rams Mabote’s Tuesday evening show on Metro FM. The intention is to present them to the South African public and inspire other young South Africans with what they do and have achieved with education.
