The Eskom board has corroborated the evidence provided by former chairman Zola Tsotsi that President Jacob Zuma had played a role in the decision to suspend three senior executives in March 2015. The confirmation came in evidence members of the Eskom board presented on Tuesday to the parliamentary inquiry into state capture being held by the portfolio committee on public enterprises. Suspended Eskom financial director Anoj Singh — who faces allegations that he facilitated dubious contracts with Gupta-owned companies — was supposed to give evidence on Tuesday but was dismissed because of the late submission of his 400-page document that arrived only at 11pm on Monday. This did not give committee members enough time to prepare for their engagement with Singh, who will now appear before the committee in January 2018.
