Flooding has led to the closure of three Limpopo border posts with Botswana. On Friday, the Department of Home Affairs said the affected ports of entry were Zanzibar‚ about 190km from Lephalale‚ Platjan between Alldays and Selebi Pikwa‚ and Pontdrift‚ about 110km from Musina. Travellers were advised to use the Groblersbrug (Martin’s Drift) border post instead, near Tom Burke in the Waterberg. Water has covered the bridge near Platjan since February 24. At Zanzibar‚ the river has been flooded since January 16. Although the water levels at Pontdrift have dropped‚ travellers are still unable to cross. The Bray border post‚ which crosses the Molopo River‚ is also affected by high levels of river water, and travellers have been advised to use the Makopong border post in the Kgalagadi district of Botswana.
