The Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development and the Moral Regeneration Movement (MRM) have signed a partnership agreement to raise awareness about the consequences of the destruction of public property. The move is aimed at preventing the destruction of public property, as well as educating communities on the importance of preserving property in the province during violent protests. "The overriding objective is to mobilise citizens to take ownership of public property to embrace public assets such as schools‚ clinics and monuments as ‘people’s property’ that should be protected from destruction‚ vandalism and littering‚" said Infrastructure Development MEC Jacob Mamabolo. In July last year‚ the department launched the I Care We Care campaign in Bekkersdal‚ south of Randfontein.
