The Centre for Development and Enterprise (CDE) has called for SA to place its cities at the top of its agenda when it comes to growth and let them play a bigger decision-making role. On Wednesday CDE executive director Ann Bernstein presented the enterprise’s growth agenda for cities. She was joined by Tshwane mayor Solly Msimanga and former Johannesburg mayor Parks Tau who were part of a debate on how cities could harness their strength to drive the country’s economy. "We must place cities at the heart of SA’s national growth strategy they are an undervalued asset for all South Africans and we need to make cities much more attractive places for growth, for investment for innovation and for employment," Bernstein said.
